Thursday 22nd February – Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levington Marina – cloudy with light rain.

Foil – 19.01 knot max, 17.64 knot ave, 13.90 knot hour, 15.38 knot mile, 40.51 km., 15.65 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Storm 5.2m.

After missing three breezy days in a row I was keen to get out today and was hoping to avoid the big wind and rain so headed over to the marina fairly early arriving around 9.45, everywhere in Suffolk is absolutely soaked as the rain never seems to stop! The tide was really high and there was a good breeze from the south, cross-on from the left and although cloudy it was not raining at this point. Foil board was quickly set up and with the wind gusting to 25 knots I rigged my 5.2 which proved perfect for the best part of the near two hour session:) South is an OK direction for Levington and I spent the session doing diagonal runs across the corner with abit of a swell running and I did 55 gybes; some good ones too not dropping one, love small sail foiling:) The only down side of the session was a spell of light rain, I really dislike sailing in the rain but it was fairly mild so quite enjoyed it:) I beat slowly out into the middle of the river then the wind eased back and I had to flounder back to pack up, shower and head for home just inn time to walk to pick maeva up for the afternoon, she is slightly under par and off her food but we still had a great time, she is lovely!
